3 small tests

June 27, 2007

Here are three things i’ve been playing with for a while, maybe 30-1h each. They’re not finished or polished in any way, but as i will not develop them any further i thought i’ll show them here.

 picdome - a simple way to show images in 3d, control with the mouse. Of course it can load several different images, and not like in the test, just one featuring 50 cent.

 lightball - The idea was to make something looking like a discoball. I came up with this, thought it looked kind of cool, might be usable for as an equalizer effect or something.

Blur carousel - The original was made by Tomas Hopper (correct me if i’m wrong), and posted on the pv3d mailing list. I played around with it, loading some different pictures and rewrote the blur-thing. Thought it looked kind of cool. Thanks Micke for allowing your face to be put up for display :)

Mech Demo

June 7, 2007

Here’s a new little testdemo. I wanted to test some different things for a possible game idea using Papervision3D.  Including:

* Animated mesh (poorly)
* Basic collision between objects
* Basic bullet-shooting with collision
* Smoke trails

The keys for the demo are:
Arrowkeys (or wasd) - to control the mech
Space      - Shoot
Enter       - Switch camera

Hints:
If you get stuck in the collision you might have to release and press down the forward key again. I’m working on a fix for this problem.

Bug:
There’s supposed to be a smoke trail after each rocket you fire, I’m having troubles getting it to show though. On this computer (using IE6) the smoke shows up after refreshing once, don’t know how it works in other browsers really.

Fly! Game Demo

May 26, 2007

Hi, here’s a little game-demo i’ve been vorking on for a couple of days. It features a controllable plane, some smoke effects, basic bomb-dropping and collision.Try to bomb those ballons!

The plane is controlled using the arrowkeys, press space to drop a bomb. Enter switches the camera between static and follow. Use the camera-switch to line up above a ballon and then drop a bomb on it.

 Note: This is a test-demo and there’s alot of things that doesn’t work or isn’t implemented yet. For instance there’s no way of crashing the plane and you can go outside of the skybox.

 If you have a question or some crits, please comment.

(Click on the link above to play)

There isn’t any preloader at the moment, so it might take a little while for the textures to how up, it’s around 600 kb.

Have Fun!

Thanks to papervision3D team for making this possible, (and keeping me busy :)

CocaCola Can material demo

April 10, 2007

This is a simple demo of a Coca-Cola can rendered in papervision3D. I wanted to make it look really shiny and metallic. The model and the textures are not very optimized, and it may take some time to load or run a bit slow on some computers. Changing the quality to low makes it run a bit faster.

Click on the picture to see the SWF. It might take some time to load (~700 kb) and there isn’t any preloader. Have fun!

Infinite Level

March 7, 2007

I wanted to try out a method of making infinite 3d-worlds by repeating the level, and that way keeping the FPS up while still maintaining a feeling of a large world. Made a little testworld, speed-modeled a Wipeout-looking space ship, added some movement and keyboard-controls. Tada. Of course you could use this technique to make large repeating levels with some more variation and randomness.

Paper3D - My version of little planet

February 22, 2007

I’ll start this page off by showing up a new Papervision3D Flash test. It’s based on the planetDemo that Pelle Christensen did for his presentation on Papervision3D in Denmark.(Kind of like a tribute)

I made it to explore the workflow between 3dsMax and Papervision using the Collada format. Try it out:
